What is one-stage implantation?

About 10 years ago, dentists offered to install a bridge in place of an extracted tooth. The procedure took up to 14 days and involved grinding the neighboring molars, which was not always suitable for patients. Now, thanks to modern technology, it is possible to restore the root of a lost tooth immediately – by one-stage dental implantation. And surgeons at Bas dent clinic know how to perform the procedure without discomfort, because they have extensive experience and are constantly learning new techniques.
The main differences between single-stage implantation and the classic type of implantation
With one-stage implantation, the placement of the implant (artificial root) is done directly after the molar (bad tooth) is removed. The patient does not need to make an additional appointment for the surgical procedure and take anesthesia again. If we are talking about the classical scheme, the medical protocol is that implantation is carried out no earlier than 30 days after the extraction of the native tooth, so that the bone tissue has time to recover.
Bas dent dentists have been performing one-stage implantation for many years and recommend it to patients who are planning to restore teeth after extraction. After all, this method is considered to be more modern and completely safe for health.
When should I plan to have a crown placed?
In some cases, a temporary crown is placed on the artificial tooth immediately after implantation. No one will even notice the fact that the molar has been removed. There is also another method, according to which the prosthesis is placed after 3-4 months. Each option is individual and requires examination by a dentist before choosing. Only a personal consultation with an implantologist and prosthodontist, as well as a 3D examination can be the key to a successful choice of a suitable method of prosthetics.
Under what conditions will a one-stage implantation be successful?
Thanks to many years of experience, the specialists at Bas dent have identified the most important conditions for the implant placement to be successful:
- atraumatic tooth extraction;
- Absence of infection during tooth extraction;
- acceptable size and condition of the gingival well;
- optimal bone density, bone quantity and gingival thickness;
- absence of periodontal disease.
Stages of implantation
In order to understand the order of procedures and to be calm during the surgical intervention, the dentists of Bas dent clinic commented on the stages of one-stage implantation according to the medical protocol.
- Stage 1: The patient undergoes a face-to-face oral examination by the surgeon and implantologist, as well as additional examinations for an accurate clinical picture: 3D diagnostics (CLCT). The program will show the condition of the dental tissue and help the doctor to make an individual treatment plan.
- Step 2: The dentist removes the tooth and further evaluates the possibility of implantation. Visual assessment of the bone and the tooth cavity will help the dentist decide whether to proceed with further prosthetics.
- Stage 3: If the well is 100% satisfactory, the specialist will place the implant.
- Step 4. If good implant retention has been achieved, the doctor will perform crown placement – immediate loading.
What rules should be followed after a one-stage implantation?
